The Cash for clunker appliances program is finally here for California and starts on Thursday. I heard today that it ran out the first day in other states so it remains to be seen how it works in California as it's a mail in for us. The good news is PG&E is giving a rebate along with the city as well. If you were planning on taking advantage of this one you better plan on doing it Thursday. I have to buy a new washer as mine died almost two weeks ago, but being the bargain hunter that I am I decided to wait to take advantage of the rebate before buying another. You must buy an energy saver to qualify and it must be recycled to get the rebate from the state. Good luck everyone!
Update:
Got my washer at sears. They have a nice sale 30% off so combined with my rebates it will be about half the price it normally would be. They gave me all the paperwork for the various rebates so I am all set. Washer will be delivered tomorrow!
Another Update:
The city came out to take a picture of my washer so I can get my rebate. I thought that was insanely ridiculous, but I want the $75 rebate so whatever. They came out and left a nice bag of stuff too. I received a free hose nozzle, low flow water faucet for the bathroom sink and the kitchen sink. I also got a low flow nozzle for the shower. There were pamphlets on a water conservist garden too. They also have a free program to have someone come out and check for leaks and a landscape specialist to give you some advice on conserving. Not a bad idea before the water meters go into effect.
