The sibling connection

Years ago we stored Elijah's cord blood in hope we might someday be able to use it, not for Eli, but for Ken (my husband) instead. Ken has a congenital heart defect that has caused a lot of damage to his heart. Many people don't realize that cord blood can be used for family members not just for the child themself. We chose viacord as our company to store our cord blood. One of the reasons is the company is actively doing research with the heart which of course is where our interest is. Recently I heard of another program through viacord called the sibling connection that enables you to collect and store your cord blood free of charge for five years in certain cases. I hope no one ever needs to take advantage of this program, but here it is just in case.

This program provides ViaCord's comprehensive cord blood collection, processing and five years of storage at no cost to expecting parents who have a child in need of a transplant and meet the other enrollment requirements of the program.

Any expectant family with a child who has an established diagnosis of a disease that is currently treatable with cord blood may receive ViaCord's premier cord blood banking and five years of storage services at no cost. Your child's doctor will need to complete a medical referral form. If you would like more information please call toll-free 1-866 861-8435.
