Blackbeards and life lessons
I took Derrick and his friend to Blackbeards for his birthday celebration. We don't have a lot of money for a big party but I wanted to do something nice since it was a milestone birthday.(13) I searched my entertainment book for ideas. If you don't have one I highly recommend them and they are only $15 right now. You save that much with only one dinner out. There was a coupon for B1G1F for miniature golf but when I went on their website I found a nice deal. For the $10 super saver pass you get one round of miniature golf, one bumper boat ride, and one golf cart ride. For more deals click here. I fed the kids lunch and dropped them off. I took the kids early in the day so they gave them extra time on the rides. That was a bonus I hadn't planned on. Then when they played miniature golf one of them got a hole in one so they won a free slurpee that they shared. I had given them $5 to get a soda, but my son being the frugal kid that I have, he bought one large one and they shared it. They played a game that they took turns playing. Just before I picked them up someone there wasn't going to eat all the pizza they bought so they gave it to Derrick and his friend. Now I know some people may think that's terrible, but I did raise my son to be frugal and the pizza was going to be wasted anyway. For $25 my son and his friend had a wonderful afternoon that also was a good lesson on sharing and making the most of what you have. I didn't intend it that way, but what a blessing it is when the life lessons you are teaching are being passed on without you even trying.
